On January 23rd the Senate Health Committee held an extensive and thorough hearing on Assembly Bill X1-1, the compromise health care reform package worked out by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez. They are scheduled to vote on the bill on Monday, January 28th. While CAHU supports meaningful, responsible, comprehensive health care reform, ABX1-1 is too flawed and too expensive. CAHU has asked its members residing in the districts of Senators serving on the Health Committee to urge their representatives to vote “no” on ABX1-1, unless it is amended to be more closely aligned to CAHU’s Healthy Solutions reform package.
